HISTORY: KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS 2023
When Pakistani troops crossed into Indian territory in the Kargil area, the seeds of an armed war between India and Pakistan were planted. From May to July 1999, the Kargil War resulted from this.
The Indian Army initiated "Operation Vijay" in reaction to the first reported incursion by local shepherds on May 3, 1999.
This operation's main goal was to recapture the Indian land that Pakistani intruders had taken over along the Line of Control (LoC).
As part of "Operation Safed Sagar," the Indian Air Force carried out an airstrike on May 26 to assist the Indian Army.
Operation Vijay was officially launched by the Indian Army after a series of hard engagements and tactical moves.
