After viral photo of Morari Bapu inside Kedarnath Temple, Congress says temples not safe under BJP
The large notice boards in Hindi and English say, “Photography and videography are strictly prohibited” inside the temple. One of the signboards also warns people that they are under CCTV camera surveillance.

A viral image of well-known spiritual leader Morari Bapu inside the sanctum sanctorum prompted the Congress to raise concerns, days after the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) posted sign boards outside the Kedarnath Temple warning visitors of legal action if caught taking photos or videos at the shrine.
BKTC asserted that the pilgrim took the pictures "in a fit of emotion" The widely circulated images purport to be from Friday and depict Morari Bapu praying within the Himalayan temple's sanctum sanctorum. Morari Bapu, who is well-known for his Ram kathas, will deliver the kathas at each of the 12 Jyotirlingas, beginning with Kedarnath.
Ganesh Godiyal, a former BKTC president and leader of the Uttarakhand Congress, noted the repeated infractions of the BKTC's orders in a video message on Saturday.
The committee recently declared that no video recording would be permitted inside Kedarnath ji's inner sanctuary. However, a viral video of the sanctum sanctorum appeared last evening, according to Godiyal.
"I think there is no way the government can handle anything. People elected this government in great hope because they made pledges to improve people's lives. That didn't take place. Our devalayas, however, are not secure. Orders from the Committee are often disregarded, and powerful individuals are visiting with cameras, he continued.
He added that despite over 24 hours having gone since the incident, the government has neither acknowledged or responded in any way. BKTC claimed in a statement that it has adopted a strict stance about taking photos inside the Kedarnath sanctum sanctorum.
"BKTC thoroughly examined the CCTV cameras installed in the temple after a picture of Kedarnath's sanctum sanctorum went viral on social media on Friday night and discovered who took it. The Indore resident pilgrim has written an apology because he is afraid of being punished. The pilgrim has also made a special payment of Rs 11,000 to the BKTC fund in lieu of his act, according to the Committee.
The pilgrim apologised, claiming that he was present when the well-known Kathavachak Morari Bapu entered the inner sanctuary. In a moment of rage, he snapped a picture of Bapu with the Shivling in the inner sanctuary and shared it online. The visitor has also said that temple staff inside the sanctum sanctorum had asked him not to take pictures, but he did so anyhow since he was moved by the experience," it continued.
